Maine Int’l Filmfest to screen Iran doc lineup

Annual Maine Int'l Film Festival is to screen Iranian documentaries.

The 22nd Annual Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) has picked two Iranian documentaries for the competition section of the event.

‘Water Folks’ by Azadeh Bizargiti is among the competition lineup, following the everyday life of a fisherwoman from Hengam Island in the Persian Gulf.

Directed by Hamid Jafari, ‘The Wind’ will also go on screen during the 10-day film festival with a story about Zar, a spiritual ritual in southern Iran. It is believed that the Zar ceremony can free the body from evil spirits with the assistance of music and song.

The Maine Film Center, whose mission is to educate, entertain, and build community through film and art, provides a unique opportunity for its audiences to connect with directors, producers, writers, actors, and musicians who travel to Waterville from across the globe.

The upcoming edition of the event will be launched on July 12 – 21, 2019 in Waterville, Maine in the U.S.
